The Context?
We were discussing compromise and that both parties must make concessions – that they follow through on – if it is to be actual compromise.
Apparently, it is not self-evident that when negotiating something or resolving an argument, both parties are expected to be committed to AND held accountable for doing what they agreed to do. Even if it is not “easy”.
That this conversation was with a grown-arse adult (over 30, under 60) is kind-of giving me hives. That they thought some people “want” to “struggle”?
